Which One is More Significant Between Reynolds number and Froude Number in Determining Flow Behavior of a River

Reynolds Number is the effect of viscous force relative to the inertia force. Most open channel flows such as rivers and waterways are turbulent. For this reason, the Reynolds Number of most open channel flows is high which indicates the viscous force is weak relative to the inertia force. It does not play a significant role in determining flow behavior.

Based on the gravity force effect, the flow of water is categorized as Subcritical, Critical, and Supercritical flow. Froude Number is the effect of gravity relative to the inertia force. Usually, the water flow state is primarily governed by the gravity force relative to the inertia force. 

Therefore, The Froude Number is the most significant parameter to indicate the state of water flow.
